Our academic focus this year has been on food justice. Students have researched the concept of a food desert and other inequalities related to class and race, the differences between real and processed foods and ways to grow their own food from seeds, using hydroponics as well as the simple (and ancient) practice of growing plants in good ole' soil.

What is REAL Food + Access Issues
Shout out to Whole Foods Brighton for being an awesome neighbor! They took us on a store tour, with samples, including a "funfetti" smoothie with frozen kale, frozen strawberries, frozen bananas and almond milk.
Cooking Our Own Real Food
Using real food (Thanks for the generous donation, Whole Foods Brighton!), we made pizzas from scratch. We even made our own pesto using fresh basil and walnuts.
